“The success of the scaphoid surgery developed together with Avamed Synergy lies in the fact that a prosthesis, printed with biocompatible material, has been able to function as another bone in the hand. Without this bionic implant, the patient’s injury would have required the welding of several carpal bones – known as arthrodesis – to the point of almost complete loss of hand mobility. With this implant, however, we have been able to replace the damaged scaphoid so that, together with the rest of the bones, it acts in the movement of the wrist, recovering the everyday and natural use of the joint”.
